What I Learned

I'm so grateful to the Intersex Jam for giving me the motivation to create my second finished game (which I also got to submit to the mecha trans/yuri/BL jam, something I signed up for almost a year ago). I grew so much as a game developer through making this, improving by leaps and bounds from the foundation I'd built last year.
My first game (which also features Intravenous and Post-Op!) was only about 5 minutes long and completely linear, with only the most basic of code as I familiarized myself with Ren'Py. In contrast, this game is 6 times as long, has complicated strings of conditions and transformations, and actually feels like a game rather than a slideshow. I even have character sprites this time!
Still, this wasn't quite the game I intended to release. There was a lot of ambitious code that didn't end up making it into the initial release, but just attempting to pull those things off really helped me challenge myself as a programmer. I hope to eventually figure out the issues I had and upload an updated version of the game sometime in the near future, to properly convey the vision I had for what I've come to call "Intravenous's Time Loop."
Generally, though, I was able to tell the story I wanted to tell. And this side game helped me test a lot of the techniques I hope to put into Terminal Status, especially in regards to how the character sprites will look and how I'll deal with my white-heavy pastel pallet.
I'd like to thank all the wonderful people here on itch making free Ren'Py resources for us novice gamedevs--I listed several tools I used in the About section of the game, with links to their corresponding itch pages. I couldn't be nearly this ambitious without the deep generosity of the visual novel community.
Thank you for playing this game, and I hope you'll watch as I continue to grow as a game developer.
